Paper-making in this fashion leaves a light carbon footprint, utilizing human power and the sun throughout most of the processes. All sheets are individually hand-silkscreened. The raw materials are sustainable and there is very little waste since all the materials are utilized directly in making paper.
Fair Trade Principles We would like to share with you the working environments in Thailand where our paper is produced. Most of the workers are women, and the young mothers bring their children along with them. They take turns watching and playing with the children while the other mothers are working. They take the many Thai holidays off, and they are happy and healthy. They have access to water and fresh food at all times. The environment is clean, pleasant, casual, relaxed, and friendly. The workers are paid a living wage. In Thailand one of the unfortunate employment options for women is "walking the streets," and so these jobs are prized and we are grateful to contribute to their well being. |
